Beverly always spoke of Howard's warm hands. Everything about him was warm. Eyes, smile, and spoke to you with undivided attention and took a genuine interest in you. An ardent atheist, Howard was always interested in discussing theology with me. He just thought that blind faith in an Anthropomorphic deity was childish. But as I got to know him, I found him increasingly interested in concepts such as consciousness. He said he was very curious about it and even wondered if he hadn’t oversimplified the issue of spirituality. He was at once a guarded and very personal man. He his keen observations were uniquely his. His opinions and passions were his own. And I was lucky to have one-on-one time with him long enough to by pass the surface chit chat and engaged in the deep stuff, which he was fearless in discussing, He understood and supported my passions and was always encouraging, Watching Howard with his grandkids was to see a man made of pure love. He had a beautiful, open laugh, which echoes clearly in the voices of his three boys, and daughter Stacy.
